HUMAN/WILDLIFE CONFLICTS

As residents may already know, Hunter's Ridge has its fair share of urban wildlife, including squirrels, skunks, and raccoons.  While some wildlife issues require the assistance of professionals, other issues can be resolved by the residents themselves.  For detailed information on physical and mechanical repellants as well as the humane eviction of urban wildlife (from window wells, dumpsters, chimneys, attics, exhaust fans, under porches, etc.), please go to
Urban Wildlife Rescue.  Scroll down to the bottom of the page.  Urban Wildlife Rescue will also be happy to answer any specific questions via phone.

THE TRASH DUMPSTERS

There have been numerous times that large items have been left beside the dumpsters instead of being placed inside of them.  Any time that this happens, a special pickup must be arranged at additional cost to the HOA.  If you have large items that will not fit into the dumpsters please contact Waste Connections directly at 303-288-2100.  Waste Connections requires payment from the homeowner at the time of pickup.

Please remember that certain items require special disposal such as automotive oil, paint, refrigerators, computers, and air conditioner units, just to name a few.  These are considered Hazardous Materials and may not be placed in the dumpsters.  Please call Eco-Cycle at 303-444-6634 or Unwanted Appliances at 888-886-9268.

WHAT'S WITH THE BROWN SPOTS?

Have you noticed a number of small dead spots in the grass around the Association?  These spots are caused by dog urine, primarily from female dogs as males tend to choose bushes and shrubs rather than grass to relieve themselves.  For those who own female dogs, here are a few ideas for you to use:

Two teaspoons of apple cider vinegar in your dog’s water will neutralize the acidity of her urine and decrease the likelihood of dead spots.  It is a very inexpensive fix.  There are also products available on the market that can help alleviate this problem.  Petsmart has GrassSaver by NaturVet (in liquid, tablet, and wafer form), Grass Guard Max from NutriVet, and Lawn Saver from 21st Century. Petco has Lawn Protect Biscuits for Dogs by Only Natural Dog, GrassSaver by NaturVet (in liquid, tablet, and wafer form) and Green Grass by NutriVet.  You may even want to ask your vet if he or she has something to suggest.

Cooperation from pet owners is appreciated in eliminating these spots so that we can have nice green grass and an even more attractive Association.

WATER USAGE

This last year has seen a drastic increase in water usage, resulting in larger water bills for the Association.   All Owners are asked to take a proactive approach to this increased usage by limiting the amount of water used, and take care of any leaky faucets, continuously running toilets or other sources of wasted water.  Sometimes these things seem small and insignificant, however, when there are multiple slow dripping faucets, it does add up to a big deal and a lot of wasted water.

Remember, even though the Association pays the water bill, your dues go into a fund from which the Association payments are made.  You really are paying for the water you use, please use it wisely!
